Who we are
ECM Strategies is a company built on innovation driven to challenge convention. We blend behavioral finance with statistical modeling and machine learning to develop quantitative investment strategies. Our primary focus is exploiting short and medium-term anomalies in equity markets.
Our Investment Philosophy
ECM was founded to focus on improving the quality of investment opportunities for individuals and institutions. From the beginning, our goal has been to build a portfolio that embodies creativity, common sense and evolution by:

We employ a multidimensional approach to risk management with the goal of controlling drawdowns and ensuring that long-term return expectations are realized. Our aim is to manage risk at every level of the portfolio, from strategy development to trade execution.

About our founder
Brin E Cunningham, CFA - CEO, President and Founder
Brin Cunningham is the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for managing the firm’s investment portfolios. She has over 36 years of experience in the investment management profession and has personally provided investment advisory services to numerous private and public investment funds, institutions and high net worth individuals. Most recently Brin was the CEO and President of Synergie Capital Management, an advisor she founded in 2015 and prior to that, President and Chief Investment Officer of 361 Capital, LLC (“361”) an investment adviser she founded in 2001.
During her time as CIO of 361 Capital, she guided two mutual funds to 3-Star and 4-Star Overall Morningstar ratings and a hedge fund to a top quintile ranking as well as earning numerous awards. These included CTA Intelligence US Performance Awards 2014, Best Managed Futures Mutual Fund, International Hedge Fund Awards 2014, ’40 Act Mutual Fund of the Year and HFM US Performance Awards 2013, Newcomer – Managed Futures (CTA).
In 1996, Brin co-founded a regional investment advisor, where she served on the Board of Managers and acted as Chief Investment Strategist. Over her career she has gained extensive hedge fund experience while managing hedge funds as well as managing the due diligence and research efforts on traditional and hedge fund products. Ms. Cunningham has earned the designations Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Investment Management Consultant (CIMC). She is a member of the Association of Investment Management and Research and the Denver Society of Security Analysts. In addition, she is a charter member of the Institute for Certified Investment Management Consultants (ICIMC). In 1999, Brin was honored as one of the financial services industry “best and brightest” by the Society of Senior Consultants for her pioneering work in advancing the practice of investment management consulting. She has served on numerous not for profit institutions and earned her degree in Business Administration from Colorado State University.
